Watch the film
A psychological drama about identity, internal conflict, self-awareness and the challenge of balancing personal desires with competing expectations.
The conflict between self and expectation
The film follows a woman struggling to satisfy conflicting priorities, demands and expectations. As these competing pressures begin to unsettle her emotionally, she finds herself confronting a situation that appears increasingly difficult to resolve.
Can she find a way through the conflict? Who helps her discover an answer? And does she even realise that help has arrived?
Through its psychological narrative, NAANUM, NAANUM… explores the relationship between external expectations and the inner self.
“Sometimes, the most important conversation is the one we have with ourselves.”
Me and myself
We spend much of our lives trying to understand the people around us. We analyse their words, question their actions, interpret their silence and sometimes devote ourselves to meeting their expectations.
But how often do we stop and ask ourselves: What do I really want? How do I want to live? Am I listening to my own voice?
Identity
The film looks at the person we see in the mirror and the person we carry within.
Expectations
External demands can compete with personal priorities and make the path forward difficult to see.
Self-awareness
The story invites viewers to consider whether they are truly listening to their own voice.
A psychological journey inward
NAANUM, NAANUM… blends psychological drama, fiction, introspection and emotional storytelling. Its central conflict is not only about what happens around the character, but also about what happens within her.
The film creates space for a reflective viewing experience, asking audiences to consider the pressures that shape their decisions and the conversations they may avoid having with themselves.
The craft behind the film
Written and directed by Gokul BKS, the film brings together cinematography and editing by Koushik Hembram, with background score by SreRam Anand.
