Sometimes, the dreams we leave behind become the reason we find our way back.
THE INVISIBLE THREAD is a heartfelt, dialogue-free 3D animated short film scripted, produced and directed by Pramiti Chatterjee. Through visual storytelling, symbolic objects, music and sound, it explores childhood dreams, ambition, challenges, setbacks and the power of rediscovering a forgotten passion.
Watch the film
An emotional and inspirational animated short film about the invisible connection between childhood aspirations and the person we become.
The dream represented by a kite
The film follows a young girl whose journey begins with a simple drawing of a kite on a wall. As she grows, the kite’s thread becomes a metaphor for the invisible connection between her childhood aspirations and the person she becomes.
From school to college and into professional life, she continues climbing an endless staircase — a symbolic representation of life’s journey. As her surroundings change from beautiful and hopeful to increasingly difficult and stormy, she encounters the challenges of growing up.
When life takes an unexpected turn, something from her childhood returns to remind her of the strength she had forgotten.
“Thread woven with passion, lasts forever.”
When dreams find their way back
Life does not always unfold the way we imagine. We begin with dreams, curiosity and endless possibilities, but responsibilities and circumstances can slowly push the things we once loved into the background.
Childhood dreams
A kite represents the passion and possibility held by a dream in its earliest form.
Life’s journey
An endless staircase symbolises the climb through school, college, professional life and changing circumstances.
Rediscovery
A forgotten passion can return as a source of strength, hope and forward movement.
Visual storytelling without dialogue
THE INVISIBLE THREAD tells its story without spoken dialogue. Its emotional language comes through visual metaphors, symbolic objects, changing surroundings, music and sound.
The kite, the staircase, the changing seasons and the stormy skies work together to express an inner journey. The film allows its images to carry the movement from childhood wonder through difficulty and towards the possibility of beginning again.
A student film built through animation
The film was created as a college project at Lovely Professional University through the MSc in Animation and Multimedia — 3D Animation Major programme.
Its academic setting places the work within a student filmmaking journey, while its themes remain universal: the dreams we leave behind, the challenges we encounter and the passions that may still help us move forward.
