Salman Khan Sends Legal Notice Over Kala Hiran, Says Film Is Linked To Blackbuck Case

Actor Salman Khan has sent a legal notice to casting director Akshay Pandey over a proposed film titled Kala Hiran. According to reports, Salman’s legal team has objected to the project, alleging that it is based on the actor’s long-running blackbuck hunting case and uses references connected to him without permission.

The legal notice, sent through DSK Legal on April 24, 2026, reportedly asks the makers to immediately stop all work related to the film, including development, production and promotion.

As per the notice, Salman Khan’s team learned that the film’s synopsis and character details were being shared with actors while allegedly presenting the story as being inspired by the blackbuck case linked to the actor. The notice states that Salman has neither approved nor authorised the use of his name, image, personality or events associated with him.

The legal team has also argued that the blackbuck case is still pending before the Rajasthan High Court. According to the notice, making a film based on an ongoing legal matter could affect the judicial process and may create prejudice against the actor before a final decision is reached.

The notice further claims that the proposed film contains references that could make audiences connect the story directly to Salman Khan. His lawyers have alleged that this could violate his personality rights, privacy rights and publicity rights. They have also accused the makers of trying to benefit from the actor’s public image and popularity.

In addition, the notice describes the project as potentially defamatory, claiming that it may contain portrayals that could harm Salman Khan’s reputation and professional standing.

Through the notice, the actor’s legal team has demanded that all work on Kala Hiran be stopped immediately and that an unconditional written apology be issued. The notice reportedly warns that if the demands are not met, further civil and criminal legal action may follow.

About The Blackbuck Case

The case dates back to 1998 when Salman Khan was accused of hunting blackbucks during the shooting of the film Hum Saath-Saath Hain near Jodhpur in Rajasthan. In the year 2018, a trial court convicted the actor and sentenced him to five years in jail.

Later, he was granted bail, and his plea against the conviction is currently pending before the Rajasthan High Court.

For now, neither the makers of Kala Hiran nor Akshay Pandey have publicly responded to the latest legal notice.
