Why Peddi and Love & War Banned Phones On Set
Why Big Stars Are Banning Phones On Set: The New Rule For Peddi and Love & War. The film industry is changing how it works on set. Before, people could use their phones easily. Now, big movies like Peddi (with Ram Charan, Janhvi Kapoor) and Love & War (with Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal) have a “no-phone” rule. This started in January 2025.
Why is this happening
Movies cost a lot of money to make. In the past, people took photos or videos on set and put them on the internet. For example, the movie Game Changer had many leaks. This ruins the surprise for the audience. Directors like Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Buchi Babu Sana want to keep their stories and the actors’ clothes a secret until the movie is ready.
How the policy works
Phone Collection: When workers arrive, they must give their phones to security. The phones are kept in lockers or bags.
Camera Stickers: On some sets, security puts a sticker over the phone camera. If the sticker is moved, the person gets in trouble.
Security Teams: Some guards walk around just to check that nobody is using a device.
Contracts: Workers sign papers saying they will not talk about the movie. If they break the rules, they lose their job.
Why does it help the movie
1. No Spoilers: Fans do not see the story or the characters early. This makes them more excited for the official trailer.
2. Better Work: Without phones, the crew focuses on their jobs. They do not get distracted by social media or texts.
3. Sound Quality: Phones can mess up the microphones and sound tools on set. Removing them makes the recording better.
Other movies with this rule
This is not new for everyone. Directors like Christopher Nolan and S.S. Rajamouli have done this for a long time. Now, it is becoming a standard rule for most big Indian films to make sure nothing gets out before the release date.
