Vidya Balan’s Kantha Glimpse Debuts in Jailer 2

Sun Pictures released Vidya Balan’s introduction glimpse as Kantha in Jailer 2, the Nelson Dilipkumar-directed sequel featuring Rajinikanth as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian.

In the teaser, Vidya Balan is seen in a striking blue saree. Her body language, the saree’s pallu, and a cigarette in her hand contribute to a fiery, commanding presence as Kantha. The moment unfolds to Anirudh Ravichander’s energetic background score.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 also stars Rajinikanth and has returning cast members including Ramya Krishnan and Yogi Babu. Earlier the makers had unveiled the first glimpses of Suraj Venjaramoodu and SJ Suryah.

Reports circulating on social media suggest guest appearances by Mohanlal, Dr. Shivarajkumar, Mithun Chakraborty, Vijay Sethupathi and Hrithik Roshan, though it remains unclear how many of these cameos will appear on screen. There has been chatter about a potential short cameo by Nandamuri Balakrishna, but nothing materialised.

The original Jailer was a blockbuster, grossing over Rs. 607 crore worldwide and released in multiple languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada. Anirudh Ravichander’s music was a major highlight of the film, and the same is expected for the sequel.

On Vidya Balan’s filmography, she was last seen in Raja Shivaji and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. She is reuniting with Akshay Kumar for an untitled comedy-drama directed by Anees Bazmee, scheduled for a December 5, 2026 theatrical release.
