Vashu Bhagnani-Tips-Dhawan Dispute Escalates As Fresh Claims Surface Ahead Of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai Trailer Launch

The dispute between Vashu Bhagnani and the team behind Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai has taken a new turn. A source close to the film has now responded to Bhagnani’s allegations, denying any connection between the upcoming film and Biwi No. 1.

The disagreement between producer Vashu Bhagnani and the makers of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai has intensified just days before the film’s release.

At a press conference held on May 22, Bhagnani raised objections over the use of songs from Biwi No. 1 and also suggested that the story of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai could be linked to the 1999 film. Following those remarks, a source associated with the film’s team has shared their side of the matter.

According to the source, the upcoming film has no connection with Biwi No. 1. The source claimed that while Biwi No. 1 revolved around a married man and an extramarital relationship, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai follows a completely different plot centred on a double-pregnancy situation.

The source also questioned Bhagnani’s claim that plans were once discussed for a sequel to Biwi No. 1 with director David Dhawan and actor Varun Dhawan. According to the source, Varun had not signed any project with Puja Entertainment after Coolie No. 1, making such claims difficult to verify.

Another point of contention revolves around the production of Coolie No. 1 (2020). During the press conference, Bhagnani stated that David Dhawan handled the film’s production and expenses and that he had paid the filmmaker a substantial amount for directing the project.

Responding to this, the source alleged that several vendors connected to Coolie No. 1 were left unpaid and that David Dhawan and his team eventually paid around Rs 16 crore from their own funds to clear outstanding dues. The source claimed this was done to ensure workers and vendors associated with the film did not suffer losses.

The source further denied Bhagnani’s statement regarding the director’s remuneration, saying there was no evidence to support the figure mentioned publicly. They also questioned why legal action was initiated close to the film’s release despite the use of the song Chunari Chunari being known for months.

With the trailer of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai set to be released shortly, both sides continue to maintain their respective positions. As of now, neither David Dhawan, Varun Dhawan, Tips Industries nor Puja Entertainment has issued any fresh official statement beyond the claims already made publicly.

The controversy has now become one of the major talking points around the film, with attention shifting from the release itself to the ongoing dispute between the two camps.
