After Raja Shivaji, These Biopics Are Expected To Release In 2026

Riteish Deshmukh’s Raja Shivaji recently arrived in theatres and became one of the major releases of the year. The film featured a large cast including Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Genelia Deshmukh, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Bhagyashree, Fardeen Khan and Jitendra Joshi.

Actor Siddhant Chaturvedi will play legendary filmmaker V. Shantaram in an upcoming biopic. The film is expected to show his journey from the silent film era to the rise of colour cinema in India. 

Tamannaah Bhatia will also be seen in a key role. The release date has not been announced yet.

Eetha

Eetha is based on the life of the famous Marathi Tamasha and Lavani performer Vithabai Narayangaonkar. Shraddha Kapoor will play the lead role, while Randeep Hooda is also part of the film. The project is directed by Laxman Utekar and is expected to release in 2026.

White

Vikrant Massey will be seen in White, a biopic based on spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. The film focuses on his role in peace efforts during the Colombian conflict. It is directed by Montoo Bassi and produced by Siddharth Anand, the film is expected to release at the end of 2026.

Nikam

Rajkummar Rao will portray public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam. The film will focus on major cases handled by him, including legal proceedings connected to the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. The film is directed by Avinash Arun and is expected to release this year.

Maria IPS

John Abraham will play former Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria in Maria IPS. The film will explore his career and investigations into major cases including the 1993 Mumbai blasts and the 26/11 attacks. Tamannaah Bhatia will play his wife. The project is backed by Rohit Shetty and is expected to arrive in theatres in 2026.

Kalam

Director Om Raut is working on a biopic based on former President and scientist Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Actor Dhanush will play the lead role. The film was announced last year and is expected to be released during the second half of 2026.
