Shreyas Talpade-Kajal Aggarwal’s The India Story Receives Legal Notice Over Claims Made In Teaser
The makers of The India Story: Slow Poison In Progress have received a legal notice objecting to claims made in the film’s teaser and promotional material. The notice alleges that the film presents misleading information about Indian farming, dairy production and poultry practices.
The upcoming film The India Story: Slow Poison In Progress, starring Shreyas Talpade and Kajal Aggarwal, has landed in legal trouble ahead of its release.
According to reports, a legal notice has been sent to Zee Studios, MIG Production & Studios LLP and the makers of the film by advocate Hiranya Pandey on behalf of Bhavesh Sodha, proprietor of Agri Business Centre.
The notice raises objections to the film’s teaser and promotional material, claiming that it contains misleading and unverified information related to Indian agriculture, dairy production and poultry farming.
The user has alleged that the film presents India’s farming ecosystem as a source of “slow poison” and may create fear among the public regarding food production and farming procedures.
Several claims shown in the teaser have been challenged in the notice. These include references to pesticide usage, food adulteration, milk quality and visuals related to poultry farming. The complainant argues that such claims require scientific evidence and proper verification before being presented to the public.
The notice also questions the alleged connection shown between agricultural practices and increasing cancer cases, stating that such conclusions should be backed by established research and data.
Apart from seeking clarification on the source of the statistics and information used in the film, the complainant has demanded the removal of the teaser and related promotional content from digital platforms. The notice also seeks changes to the film before its public release.
A copy of the notice has reportedly been sent to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), requesting the board to review the matter before granting certification to the film.
The filmmakers have been given seven days to respond to the demands mentioned in the notice. The complainant has also warned of further legal action, including approaching the court to seek a stay on the film’s release if the concerns are not addressed.
The India Story: Slow Poison In Progress stars Shreyas Talpade and Kajal Aggarwal in lead roles and has been at the centre of discussion since the release of its teaser.
