Suriya and Mani Ratnam to reunite after Aaytha Ezhuthu? Here’s What We Know

A report circulating in Tamil cinema circles claims Suriya and Mani Ratnam may team up again, eight years after their first collaboration in Aaytha Ezhuthu. The report, attributed to Valai Pechu, says Ratnam has narrated a story to Suriya and is looking to refurbish the script for a second collaboration. The project, however, hinges on Suriya’s acceptance and would come after Ratnam’s upcoming film Inji Vellam, which stars Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi. Suriya and Mani Ratnam had previously made Aaytha Ezhuthu (2004) with co-stars R. Madhavan and Siddharth. The action drama was loosely based on the life of George Reddy and was simultaneously shot in Hindi as Yuva with an entirely different cast, except Esha Deol.

Suriya’s latest on-screen appearance was in Vishwanath & Sons, a Venky Atluri-helmed romantic drama co-starring Mamitha Baiju. The film follows Sanjay Vishwanath, an industrialist who becomes a father through surrogacy and later forms a bond with Maddy, a medical student. The cast also includes Radikaa Sarathkumar, Raveena Tandon, Sunil Reddy, Harika, Nassar, Rajiv Menon, and others.

Upcoming projects include Scene, an action entertainer directed by Jithu Madhavan, with Nazriya Nazim Fahadh and Naslen as co-leads. He also has the tentatively titled SuriyaXHombale (Suriya 48), directed by TJ Gnanavel and produced by Hombale Films, with Kayadu Lohar and Yogi Babu in key roles.
