Sunny Deol’s Parshuram Put on Hold as Director Nikhil Nagesh Bhat Heads to Hollywood

Sunny Deol’s much-awaited action film Parshuram has reportedly been postponed, with the project now unlikely to begin production this year.

The film was expected to go on floors in October 2026 and was set to be directed by Kill filmmaker Nikhil Nagesh Bhat. However, the director has now signed his first Hollywood project, putting Parshuram on hold.

According to reports, Nikhil Nagesh Bhat will direct Deadlocked, an action thriller for Amazon MGM Studios starring Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx. The filmmaker has reportedly been in talks for a Hollywood project for nearly two years, and the film is now moving into production.

With Bhat focusing on his international debut, Parshuram has been pushed to 2027. The producers are currently evaluating whether to wait for his return or appoint a new director to take the project forward.

The film is backed by Madhu Mantena and Mythri Movie Makers, who are also reportedly considering fast-tracking Jaat 2. However, no official decision has been announced yet.

Sunny Deol’s Busy Line-up

Despite the delay, Sunny Deol has several films lined up. He will next be seen in Lahore 1947, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan, releasing on August 14. The film also stars Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal and Karan Deol.

His upcoming slate also includes Gabru, the action thriller Antony alongside Jyotika, and Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, where he will play Lord Hanuman.

Nikhil Nagesh Bhat’s Hollywood Debut

Nikhil Nagesh Bhat became one of the most talked-about action directors after Kill, which was praised for its intense action sequences and later received international attention.

His Hollywood debut, Deadlocked, follows a former Marine serving jury duty who is forced back into action when a courtroom hostage situation turns deadly. The film stars Jamie Foxx and will premiere globally on Prime Video.

For now, Parshuram remains on hod, with fans waiting to see when Sunny Deol’s action drama finally moves into production.
