DPIFF coverage also notes Gupta’s expanding cross-border projects as she navigates acting, directing and producing across Indian and American cinema. DPIFF coverage.

In Arya, written and directed by Neil Tuli, Gupta plays the title role—a disciplined piano teacher from a prestigious Indian conservatory who reluctantly travels to northern Minnesota to rescue a struggling band program while fuelling her own career ambitions. Her arrival precipitates chaos as Arya confronts her own insecurities.

The ensemble includes Arjun Gupta, Adi Roy, Kyra Leroux and Iqbal Theba, with Gupta also serving as an executive producer alongside Ross Butler.

Arya marks Neil Tuli’s feature directorial debut, while Gupta’s year also features her directorial debut Aasmani, which began a strong festival run across multiple continents within two months, from Washington DC to Tokyo to Kerala.

Taken together, the projects illustrate Gupta’s move beyond Indian OTT into leading an American indie feature while continuing to build a reputation for depth and cultural specificity.
