Red Chillies Entertainment and Netflix Drop the Trailer of Saif Ali Khan’s Kartavya; Film Streams from 15th May

Netflix and Red Chillies Entertainment have officially released the trailer of Kartavya, starring Saif Ali Khan in the lead role. Directed by Pulkit, the film is set to release on Netflix on May 15 and from the trailer itself, it looks like the story is not just about crime, but also about the pressure, confusion and consequences that come with every decision.

The trailer opens with a line that already sets the tone for the film, showing how people often get stuck between duty, actions and personal choices before they even reach “kartavya”. Saif plays Pawan, a police officer whose life starts falling apart after a journalist is shot while being under his protection. What follows is not just an investigation, but also a situation where he is constantly being questioned by the system, his seniors and even his own circumstances.

As the case moves ahead, Pawan gets pulled into a space involving power, influence and pressure from all sides. At the same time, problems in his personal life also begin growing after his family gets threatened because of an issue connected to his brother. The trailer shows him standing between family and responsibility, where every choice seems to come with a cost.

Along with Saif, the film also stars Rasika Dugal, Sanjay Mishra, Zakir Hussain, Manish Chaudhari and Saurabh Dwivedi. The cast in the trailer already gives a sense that the film is relying more on performances and tension rather than loud moments.

For Saif, Kartavya adds another role to his recent choices. Over the years, he has moved between commercial films and more layered characters through projects like Omkara, Sacred Games, Vikram Vedha and Devara. With Kartavya, he once again steps into a role where the character looks conflicted and emotionally stuck between what is right and what survival demands.

Director Pulkit, who earlier worked on projects like Bhakshak, seems to continue exploring stories that sit in uncomfortable spaces rather than giving easy answers. This also marks another collaboration between Netflix and Red Chillies Entertainment after their previous projects together.

Produced by Gauri Khan, Kartavya looks at crime, pressure and personal conflict through the lens of one man trying to hold everything together while things around him slowly break apart.

Kartavya streams on Netflix from May 15.
