Ranveer Singh’s Filmography: 12 Characters That Stand Out in His Career

Ranveer Singh entered Bollywood with Band Baaja Baaraat in 2010. Since then, he has worked in romantic films, period dramas, action films, sports dramas and commercial entertainers. Almost every few years, he has picked a character that looks and feels different from the one before.

Here are some of the roles that have become an important part of his career.

1. Hamza – Dhurandhar (2025)

Hamza introduced Ranveer in a new action franchise. The character is shown as a man carrying a past while dealing with a larger mission. The film focused on both the action and the emotional side of the character.

2. Jaskirat Singh Rangi – Dhurandhar: The Revenge (2026)

The sequel expands the story by introducing Jaskirat Singh Rangi and also showing how Hamza’s journey began. Ranveer plays two connected characters whose stories unfold together.

3. Bittoo Sharma – Band Baaja Baaraat (2010)

Bittoo Sharma was a middle-class Delhi boy who starts a wedding planning business with Shruti. The film became one of the biggest debuts of that year and introduced Ranveer as a new lead actor.

4. Ricky Bahl – Ladies vs Ricky Bahl (2011)

Ricky is a conman who changes his name, look and personality every time he targets someone. Throughout the film, Ranveer appears in different avatars while playing the same character.

5. Varun Shrivastav – Lootera (2013)

Based loosely on The Last Leaf by O. Henry, Lootera showed a different side of Ranveer. Varun is a man hiding a secret, and much of the story is told through silence rather than dialogue.

6. Ram – Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (2013)

Ram is carefree at first, but his life changes because of a long-running family rivalry. The film became Ranveer’s first collaboration with Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

7. Bajirao – Bajirao Mastani (2015)

Playing Peshwa Bajirao meant stepping into the life of one of the Maratha Empire’s military leaders. The film follows his battles as well as his relationship with Mastani.

8. Alauddin Khilji – Padmaavat (2018)

Instead of playing the hero, Ranveer took on the role of Alauddin Khilji. The character’s look, dialogue delivery and body language became one of the main talking points after the film’s release.

9. Sangram ‘Simmba’ Bhalerao – Simmba (2018)

Simmba begins as a police officer who thinks only about himself. As the story moves forward, one incident changes the way he looks at his job and his responsibilities.

10. Murad Ahmed – Gully Boy (2019)

Murad comes from a small home in Mumbai but dreams of becoming a rapper. Inspired by the lives of Divine and Naezy, the film follows his journey from writing lyrics to performing on stage.

11. Kapil Dev – 83 (2021)

In 83, Ranveer played former Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev. The film recreated India’s 1983 World Cup victory, and he spent time working on Kapil Dev’s voice, batting style and mannerisms.

12. Rocky Randhawa – Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023)

Rocky is loud, funny and expressive, but the film also shows how he deals with family relationships and emotional situations. The character became one of the most talked-about parts of the film.
