PVRInox and Cinepolis to Distribute TIPS Films’ Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai
TIPS Films has partnered with PVRInox and Cinepolis to distribute the Varun Dhawan starrer Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai directly through major multiplex chains.
A new strategy for the box office battleground
The upcoming theatrical run for Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai has taken a different path behind the scenes. Producer Ramesh Taurani and TIPS Films have locked in a deal with PVRInox and Cinepolis to manage the distribution of the project. This move ensures that the film, which features Varun Dhawan alongside Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur, lands on screens across major Indian cities through the very chains that own the seats.
By bypassing some of the usual middlemen in urban centres, the production house is leaning into a model in which exhibitors themselves have a stake in the film’s visibility. While TIPS Films will still handle the rollout in traditional territories through regional partners, the focus for the multiplex audience is now firmly in the hands of the national chains. This set seeks to secure the best possible time slots and screen counts, as it is expected to be a high-traffic window.
The timing of the release puts the movie right in the middle of the Bakri Eid weekend on May 22, 2026. This period is already crowded with the arrival of Chand Mera Dil, creating a situation where screen space becomes a finite resource. By partnering directly with the biggest players in the exhibition space, the creators are attempting to insulate their project from being sidelined by the competition.
For David Dhawan, this marks his 46th time in the director’s chair. The industry is watching this release closely to see if the father-son pairing can repeat their previous results under this specific business arrangement. As the focus shifts toward the promotional phase, the success of the film will depend on whether this distribution choice translates into actual footfall at the ticket windows.
