Padmini Kolhapure Backs Ranveer Singh Amid Don 3 Dispute, Says CINTAA Stands With Him
The dispute surrounding Don 3 has taken another turn, with veteran actor and Cine and TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) Vice-President Padmini Kolhapure publicly supporting Ranveer Singh.
The controversy began after reports claimed that Ranveer Singh had stepped away from Don 3, leading to a disagreement between the actor and the film’s producers, Excel Entertainment. According to reports, the production house alleged that the actor’s exit resulted in losses of around Rs 45 crore because of pre-production work, location scouting and other expenses already incurred for the film.
Reports also suggested that Excel Entertainment maintained that Ranveer had signed a three-film agreement and was involved in script discussions and promotional activities related to the film before deciding not to continue with the project.
As the case escalated, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) reportedly handed out notices asking Ranveer Singh to present his side. However, the actor’s legal team responded by stating that FWICE did not have jurisdiction over a private commercial agreement between an actor and a production company.
Following this, FWICE issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh, asking its members across different film industry departments not to work on the actor’s future projects or advertisements until the dispute is resolved.
Now, speaking to IANS, Padmini Kolhapure has stated that CINTAA stands firmly with the actor.
“CINTAA is proud to have Ranveer Singh as our member. We stand by him and for him whenever he needs us. We are here for him, with him. If he ever needs us, we are for Ranveer Singh,” she said.
Earlier, CINTAA President Poonam Dhillon had also reacted to the issue and said the association could have helped mediate had it been informed by the concerned parties at an earlier stage.
Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh’s team has maintained a measured approach. In an official statement, the actor’s representatives said they preferred to remain silent on the matter and believed professional disagreements should be handled privately rather than through public discussions.
Reports have also claimed that Salman Khan has attempted to mediate between Ranveer Singh and the makers of Don 3 in an effort to help both sides reach an amicable solution.
Don 3 was officially announced in 2023 as the next instalment in the Don franchise.
Directed by Farhan Akhtar and produced by Excel Entertainment, the film was all set to introduce Ranveer Singh as the new lead after Shah Rukh Khan headlined the previous two films. The project has remained in the limelight due to ongoing speculation about its casting and production status.
