Main Actor Nahin Hoon Now Streaming on Prime Video India

Indie drama Main Actor Nahin Hoon has landed on Amazon Prime Video India, expanding its reach after a festival circuit and a theatrical run. The film began streaming on Prime Video India on September 9, 2026, following a path that took it from international festivals to UK theatres in late 2025 and Indian cinemas in May 2026.
Written and directed by Aditya Kripalani, the film has already drawn attention for its intimate premise and cross-border production. Main Actor Nahin Hoon premiered on Prime Video India on September 9, 2026, after a festival life that included a UK release in November 2025 and an Indian release on May 8, 2026.
“It feels great because Prime has a very large subscriber base, so the film is being watched. Every 10 minutes or so, we are getting a message from someone — every half an hour, we are getting a message on Instagram or Facebook. So it feels very good to be in a time when people can reach out to you via social media while they are watching the film,” Kripalani said in discussing the Prime Video release.
Low‑tech, high-emotion: a long-distance collaboration
The narrative follows Mouni, portrayed by Chitrangada Satarupa, a frustrated Mumbai actor who connects with Adnan Baig, played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui, a retired banker based in Frankfurt. What starts as an online acting exercise for a film audition evolves into a personal exchange that pushes both characters toward greater emotional openness.
Filmed across India and Germany, the production captured real-time interactions between Siddiqui and Satarupa over video calls, despite being in different countries. The shoot wrapped within 28 days, with Kripalani overseeing the feeds from Mumbai and Frankfurt.
Before its Indian release, the film toured international festivals, beginning with its world premiere at Cinequest. The project has earned accolades for performances and direction: Siddiqui won Best Actor at the New York Indian Film Festival, Satarupa took Best Actor (Female), and Kripalani earned Best Director (Jury) at the DC South Asian Film Festival.
In keeping with its independent film roots, Siddiqui chose not to charge an acting fee for the project. Kripalani, an independent filmmaker, writer and producer, is known for exploring themes around gender, violence, mental health and human relationships.
Main Actor Nahin Hoon is produced by Sweta Chhabria Kripalani, Aditya Kripalani and Faizuddin Siddiqui under Mumba Devi Motion Pictures and Side Hero Entertainment. The cast also features Naveen Kasturia, Ayushi Gupta, Yasir Iftikhar Khan, Vibhawari Deshpande, Meenakshi Arundhati and Aarti Desai. In the UK, ReelN Ltd handles the release, while Platoon One distributes the film in India. The project is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video India.
