Is Alia Bhatt’s Alpha Inspired By International Films? Here’s Why Social Media Is Talking About It

Ever since the teaser of Alpha was released, social media has been divided. While some users feel a few scenes, visuals and dialogues look similar to international films, others believe it is unfair to judge the movie before its release. Here’s a look at what the discussion is all about.

The teaser for Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, Bobby Deol, and Anil Kapoor, has sparked a lot of online conversation. While many people are excited to see a female-led film in the YRF Spy Universe, some viewers have pointed out similarities between the teaser and a few international films.

One of the biggest discussions online is around the 1990 French film La Femme Nikita. Several social media users claim that a sequence shown in the Alpha teaser reminds them of a scene from the film. Some viewers have also pointed out similarities in the way the character is introduced and trained.

Apart from that, a dialogue featured in the teaser has been compared by some users to a scene from American Sniper. A promotional poster released by the makers also became a talking point, with some viewers saying its desert visuals reminded them of Dune.

The conversation does not stop there. Some people have also questioned the way spy films are being made today. According to them, spy stories are usually about intelligence, supervision, planning and undercover missions, whereas many current spy films focus more on action and larger-than-life sequences.

A few users also discussed the action scenes shown in the teaser. Some felt that more focus could have been given to gadgets, weapons and undercover techniques, while others argued that commercial spy films around the world often use similar action formats.

At the same time, many viewers have come out in support of Alpha. They believe that a teaser only shows a few seconds of footage and does not reveal the full story. According to them, resemblances between scenes do not automatically mean a film has copied another project. They also pointed out that many films in the same genre often share familiar ideas and storytelling methods.

There is no official statement from the makers on these comparisons. More importantly, the film has not been released yet, making it difficult to draw any final conclusions.

For now, the debate continues online. Some viewers see inspiration, some see similarities, and some believe the conversation is happening too early. The final answer will likely come only after audiences watch the complete film.

Directed by Shiv Rawail and produced by Yash Raj Films, Alpha is scheduled to release in theatres on July 3, 2026.
