King Cast Reunions: Shah Rukh Khan Reconnects With Rani Mukerji, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff And More
King will see Shah Rukh Khan reunite with several actors he has worked with over the years. From Rani Mukerji and Anil Kapoor to Jackie Shroff, Abhishek Bachchan and Deepika Padukone, the film connects different chapters of his film career.
One of the talking points around King is not just its cast, but the history many of its actors share with Shah Rukh Khan. Over the last three decades, Shah Rukh has worked with actors across different genres and generations, and King brings many of them back together in a single film.
Among the most notable reunions is with Anil Kapoor. The two actors were last seen together in Trimurti (1995), directed by Mukul S. Anand. The film featured Shah Rukh Khan, Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff in lead roles. More than three decades later, King marks their return to the same project.
Another reunion comes with Saurabh Shukla, who worked with Shah Rukh in films such as Baadshah (1999), Hey Ram (2000) and Mohabbatein (2000). While their paths crossed several times during the late 1990s and early 2000s, King brings them together again after many years.
Rani Mukerji’s presence in the film adds another layer to the reunion theme. Shah Rukh and Rani have shared screen space in some of Hindi cinema’s most remembered films, including Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Chalte Chalte, Veer-Zaara, Paheli and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. Their collaborations span romantic dramas, family films and social stories. For many viewers, they remain one of the most familiar on-screen pairings from the late 1990s and 2000s.
Jackie Shroff also returns to work with Shah Rukh after Happy New Year (2014). Their association goes back to King Uncle (1993), one of Shah Rukh’s early films, followed by One 2 Ka 4 and Devdas. Interestingly, King also reunites Shah Rukh with Abhishek Bachchan, who shared screen space with him in Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and later Happy New Year.
Jaideep Ahlawat’s previous collaboration with Shah Rukh came in Raees (2017), where he played a police officer. Since then, Jaideep has built a strong presence through films and streaming projects, making King another significant collaboration between the two actors.
Deepika Padukone is perhaps the co-star most closely associated with Shah Rukh’s later career. Their journey began with Om Shanti Om (2007), which marked Deepika’s debut film. They later worked together in Chennai Express, Happy New Year, Pathaan and Jawan. Several of these films emerged among the highest-grossing releases of their respective years, making their pairing one of the most recurring collaborations in contemporary Hindi cinema.
The film’s ensemble also includes Akshay Oberoi, Abhay Verma, Raghav Juyal, Fahim Fazli and Karanvir Malhotra, all of whom will be sharing screen space with Shah Rukh Khan for the first time.
While King is being discussed for its scale and cast, it also stands out as a film that brings together actors from different phases of Shah Rukh Khan’s journey in cinema. From colleagues he worked with in the 1990s to collaborators from his recent blockbusters, the film creates a link between several generations of Hindi cinema through one cast lineup.
