Deepak Mukut Plans Dussehra Release For Emraan Hashmi’s Gunmaaster G9 After The Bhootnii’s Screen Issues

Producer Deepak Mukut is planning a Dussehra 2026 release for Gunmaaster G9, starring Emraan Hashmi, Genelia Deshmukh and Aparshakti Khurana. The film is directed by Aditya Datt and marks his reunion with Emraan Hashmi nearly 20 years after films like Aashiq Banaya Aapne and Dil Diya Hai.

According to Deepak Mukut, the makers are currently looking at either October 9 or October 16 as the release date. He shared that the team wants to avoid a heavy box office clash this time after facing problems during the release of The Bhootnii.

Talking about the issue, Deepak Mukut said that The Bhootnii clashed with Raid 2, which was distributed by PVR INOX Pictures. Because of that, Raid 2 reportedly received more shows in theatres, while his film struggled with screen allocation. He added that wherever The Bhootnii got shows, audiences did turn up and the film collected around Rs. 10 crores, but he believes the business could have been better with wider showcasing.

Gunmaaster G9 is being planned as a mass action entertainer aimed at younger audiences as well as viewers who followed Emraan Hashmi’s films during the mid-2000s. Emraan became widely popular during that phase with films like Murder, Zeher, Aashiq Banaya Aapne, Gangster, Jannat and Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai.

The film also reunites Emraan Hashmi with composer Himesh Reshammiya after many years. The trio of Emraan Hashmi, Aditya Datt and Himesh Reshammiya had earlier worked together on Aashiq Banaya Aapne in 2005.

Reports around the film suggest that Gunmaaster G9 is being developed as an action drama with Emraan playing Agent G9, while details about Genelia Deshmukh and Aparshakti Khurana’s characters are still being kept under wraps.

The makers are currently shooting a car chase sequence in Mumbai. Another schedule is expected to take place in Uttarakhand and Delhi in June. Director Aditya Datt recently also revealed that the film includes a large-scale eight-day car action sequence featuring Emraan Hashmi.

Deepak Mukut also praised Genelia Deshmukh’s work in the film and mentioned that Riteish Deshmukh appreciated her role after hearing about the project. Recently, Aditya Datt had also spoken about Genelia’s professionalism during the shoot.

Apart from Gunmaaster G9, Deepak Mukut confirmed that work is also going on for Nayak 2 with Anil Kapoor. He also shared that Sanam Teri Kasam 2 is in development after the re-release success of the original film.
