Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Daayra Among 16 September 2026 Releases, Don’t Be Shy on Prime Video

DPIFF has identified a packed September 2026 release slate across theatres and OTT, featuring 16 titles including Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Daayra and Alia Bhatt’s Don’t Be Shy. Among the highlights, Daayra, a Hindi thriller, opens in theatres on September 18, 2026. It features Kareena Kapoor Khan, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Kanwaljit Singh, Achint Kaur, Anuja Sathe, Seema Azmi and Biswapati Sarkar, with Meghna Gulzar directing. The film follows a tense clash of ethics within the system after a high-profile incident; after officer Raman Kumar and his team take action against suspects in a disputed encounter, Ajooni Kohli examines whether the shooting was staged, leading to an intense institutional conflict.

Also releasing September 18 in theatres is Resident Evil, an English-language sci-fi horror from director Zach Cregger. The cast includes Austin Abrams, Zach Cherry, Kali Reis and Paul Walter Hauser. The film follows Bryan, a medical courier delivering sensitive medical cargo to Raccoon City General Hospital as a viral outbreak throws the city into chaos, forcing him to navigate a dangerous crisis while trying to complete his delivery, a narrative positioned alongside the events of the classic Resident Evil 2 video game.

Vibe meknZizkusk, a Hindi action thriller comedy, hits theatres on September 18. The film stars Kunal Khemu, Preity Zinta, Sparsh Shrivastava and Vanshika Dhir, directed by Kunal Khemu. The story follows two ordinary and hapless friends who stumble into a major plot, thrusting them into a high-stakes adventure where their bond is tested as they race to protect the country.

Love Lottery, a Hindi romantic drama, releases in theatres on September 18. Cast includes Akshay Oberoi, Heli Daruwala, Indira Krishnan, Kabir Duhan Singh, Hemant Pandey and Arshdep Ssandhu, with Arvind Pandey directing. The plot centers on Bharani Verma’s mysterious circumstances and her husband Kartik Saxena’s efforts to clear his name, exploring the complexities of relationships under social pressure.

September 25 brings Hunkkaar: The Roar, a Hindi social thriller featuring Aneet Padda, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Arjun Mathur, Ram Kapoor, Raghubir Yadav and Zoya Hussain, directed by Nitya Mehra and Karan D. Kapadia. It follows 17-year-old Meenu Rawat whose complaint against a revered guru triggers controversy and public scrutiny, with officer Jasleen Singh Soin pursuing the truth amid a powerful network surrounding the guru.

The Paradise, a Telugu action thriller, releases September 24 in theatres with a cast led by Nani, Raghav Juyal, Mohan Babu, Kayadu Lohar, Tanikella Bharani, Sonali Kulkarni, Sampoornesh Babu and a cameo by Keerthy Suresh. Directed by Srikanth Odela, the film centers on a man who challenges wrongdoing affecting his people, with Jadal emerging as a symbol of resistance amid escalating conflict.

The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest, a Hindi fantasy mystery thriller, arrives September 25 in theatres. Starring Sidharth Malhotra, Tamannaah Bhatia, Anup Soni, Shweta Tiwari and Maniesh Paul, the film is directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra and follows a city man who defies his village’s forbidden forest and awakens a divine goddess.

Avengers: Endgame Encore, a theatrical re-release of the 2019 epic, lands in theatres September 25, 2026, with additional footage and a new connective thread to Avengers: Doomsday. Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha – Shri Ram Ki, a Hindi mythological drama, opens September 25, 2026. Starring Dev Sharma, Anjali Arora, Rajniesh Duggal, Sheel Verma and Nirbhay Wadhwa, directed by Abhishek Singh, the film traces a modern youth who meets Lord Hanuman and experiences a transformative journey through the Ramayana.

Lust Stories 3, a Hindi anthology, streams on Netflix from September 18, 2026. Featuring Radhika Apte, Konkona Sen Sharma, Vijay Varma, Abhishek Banerjee, Gurfateh Pirzada, Sana Thampi and Ali Fazal, the four interlinked stories explore love, desire and the complexities of contemporary relationships.

Dorothy, a Tamil indie drama, releases September 25, 2026. Cast includes Keerthy Suresh, Sananth, Rishikanth and Muthukumar; directed by Karthik Subbaraj. Set in rural Tamil Nadu in the early 1990s, Dorothy follows two childhood friends whose lives are upended by a tragedy and the journey that follows as they navigate loyalty and family duty.

Heart of the Beast, an English-language survival thriller, opens September 25, 2026. The film stars Brad Pitt, Uber, JK Simmons and Anna Lambe, directed by David Ayer. It follows a retired Army Special Forces officer and his combat dog Odin as they endure treacherous terrain after a plane crash in Alaska.

Don’t Be Shy, a Hindi coming-of-age comedy-drama, releases on Prime Video September 25, 2026. Cast includes Aarushi Bajaj, Ansh Duggal, Bianca Arora, Piyush Khati, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Neha Dhupia and Anurag Basu, with Sreeti Mukerji directing.
