Cannes Film Festival Has Many Rules Too; From No Selfies To Heels-Only Entry
Every year people talk about Cannes because of films, fashion and celebrities, but the festival also has many rules that often surprise people online.
The Cannes red carpet is around two kilometres long and reports say it is changed multiple times during the day to keep it clean during events. Celebrities from across the world walk on this carpet while photographers cover every appearance.
One of the most talked-about rules at Cannes is the footwear rule. Female guests are expected to wear heels on the red carpet. In the past, this rule also created debate after some actresses were reportedly stopped for wearing flats. Later, stars like Kristen Stewart and Julia Roberts publicly reacted against it.
Another strict rule is around selfies and handbags. Celebrities are not allowed to click selfies on the red carpet and are expected to pose only for official photographers and media. Handbags and large purses are also discouraged during appearances.
Even photographers attending the event have a dress code. Male paparazzi are expected to wear black tuxedos with formal shoes while covering the festival.
Cannes is also known for its luxury hospitality. Reports over the years have claimed that lakhs and crores are spent on dinners, wine, seafood and yacht events during the festival days. Celebrities, filmmakers and guests from different countries stay in Cannes for screenings, meetings and parties throughout the festival.
While most people only see the glamour online, the festival actually runs with many detailed rules and systems behind the scenes.
