Story

Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata is based on the events surrounding Mumbai’s 26/11 terror attacks and focuses on the doctors, nurses and hospital staff of Cama Hospital. The film highlights how health workers risked their own lives to save patients during one of the darkest nights in the city’s history.

Inspired by real events, the story particularly sheds light on the efforts of nurses and hospital staff who protected patients, carried out surgeries, helped pregnant women and continued working despite the danger around them.

Review

The biggest strength of Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata is its subject. The story of Cama Hospital and the role played by doctors and nurses during the 26/11 attacks deserves to be told and remembered.

However, despite having such an important story the film struggles to create the emotional impact it aims for. There are several moments that should have left the audience deeply moved, but they don’t land as strongly as expected.

The film moves at a slow pace and often feels stretched. At many points, it feels more like a television drama than a theatrical film. Scenes continue for longer than necessary, and because of that, it becomes difficult to stay emotionally connected to what is happening on screen.

The cinematography and execution feel unworthy. The film tries to recreate the tension and fear of that night, but the intensity does not reach the level where the audience feels fully involved in the situation. Assigned the seriousness of the subject, there was room to create much stronger emotional moments.

Performances

The performances are another area where the film feels underwhelming. Kangana Ranaut and the rest of the cast have delivered strong work in many projects before, which is why expectations are naturally higher.

Here, however, most characters feel limited by the writing and presentation. The performances never fully rise above the material, and as a result, many scenes pass without leaving a lasting impression.

What Works

The film deserves credit for bringing attention to the bravery of doctors, nurses and hospital staff during the 26/11 attacks. Many people know about the attacks themselves, but fewer know about what happened inside Cama Hospital and how many lives were saved that night.

That aspect remains the film’s most important contribution.

Verdict

Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata tells a story that needed to be told. The courage shown by the hospital staff during the 26/11 attacks is undeniable and deserves recognition.

Unfortunately, the film doesn’t fully summarise that courage into a proper cinematic experience. The slow pace, lack of emotional and expressive intensity, and uneven execution prevent it from making the impact it could have.

While the subject stays with you, the film itself is easier to forget than it should have been.
