Alia Bhatt Joins Tumbbad Franchise, To Appear In Tumbbad 2 And Lead Tumbbad 3

Alia Bhatt is set to become part of the Tumbbad franchise alongside Sohum Shah. According to a report by  Bollywood Hungama, the actor has started shooting for an extended cameo in Tumbbad 2, which is currently in production.

As per the report, Alia Bhatt will shoot for around 15 days for the second part of the franchise. Her role is expected to play an important part in the story and will continue into Tumbbad 3. The third film is reportedly planned as the final chapter of the trilogy, with Alia Bhatt and Sohum Shah leading the story together.

The first film, Tumbbad, was released in 2018 and later built a strong audience through streaming and re-releases. Directed by Rahi Anil Barve and co-directed by Adesh Prasad, the film followed Vinayak Rao, played by Sohum Shah, and explored greed, mythology and hidden treasure through the story of Hastar. The film received attention for its setting, storytelling and visual design, becoming one of the most discussed horror-fantasy films from Hindi cinema in recent years.

Alia Bhatt is currently also working on Love & War, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film also stars Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. Reports suggest that the shoot for Love & War will continue from June and is expected to finish by August 2026. The film is currently scheduled for release during Republic Day weekend in 2027.

Apart from Love & War, Alia Bhatt also has Alpha in her upcoming line-up. The film is part of the YRF Spy Universe and also stars Sharvari and Anil Kapoor.

Meanwhile, reports claim that work on Tumbbad 3 is expected to begin soon after the release of Tumbbad 2.
