Akshay Kumar Reunites With Vipul Amrutlal Shah For ‘Samuk’; Film To Explore Man Vs Alien Conflict

Akshay Kumar and Vipul Amrutlal Shah are coming together again for Samuk, an action thriller directed by Kanishk Verma. The film is expected to go on floors in August 2026 and will explore a man-versus-alien storyline.

After working together on films such as Waqt: The Race Against Time, Namastey London, Singh Is Kinng and Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty, Akshay Kumar and Vipul Amrutlal Shah are set to collaborate once again on Samuk.

The upcoming film will be directed by Kanishk Verma and is being planned as an action thriller with a man-versus-alien premise. According to the Pinkvilla reports, the project is expected to start with filming in August 2026.

The story is of an ordinary man who finds himself caught in an unexpected situation with an alien presence. The narrative will focus on survival, action and the challenges that emerge from this encounter. 

While Indian cinema has explored science fiction in different forms over the years, Samuk is aiming to bring a man-versus-alien conflict to the centre of its story.

The film is also expected to rely heavily on visual effects and practical effects. Work on pre-production has reportedly already begun, with teams focusing on action design, world-building and technical planning. International technicians are expected to join the project for areas including visual effects, prosthetics and action execution.

For Akshay Kumar, the project marks another addition to a busy line-up. The actor is currently filming a comedy directed by Anees Bazmee. Once that schedule is completed, he is expected to begin preparations for Samuk before the film moves into production later this year.

The collaboration also marks another chapter in Akshay Kumar and Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s long professional association. Their previous films together have covered genres ranging from family drama and romance to comedy and action. With Samuk, the duo will be stepping into science fiction territory.
