Aishwarya Rai’s Cannes 2026 Look Took 1,500 Hours To Create; Amit Aggarwal Reveals Details

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made her first appearance at Cannes 2026 in a custom Amit Aggarwal gown. The outfit took 1,500 hours to complete and featured thousands of crystals.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan returned to the Cannes Film Festival in 2026 with a custom outfit designed by Amit Aggarwal. Her appearance came after discussions on social media about her delayed arrival at the festival, and the actor eventually walked the red carpet during the 79th edition of Cannes.

For her first appearance this year, Aishwarya wore Luminara, a couture creation by Amit Aggarwal. The gown was created in an abyss-blue shade and featured structured shoulder elements inspired by the designer’s exploration of biomimicry, a concept often seen in his work.

According to details shared by the designer’s team, the outfit required more than 1,500 hours of craftsmanship. The gown featured Crystal Vein embroidery made using thousands of crystals placed across the design. The embellishments were arranged to reflect light throughout the garment.

Speaking about the collaboration, Amit Aggarwal said the idea behind the look was to create something that reflected light, movement and transformation. He added that Aishwarya has approached Cannes with a sense of individuality over the years, and the design was developed with that in mind.

The look was styled by Mohit Rai, who has worked with several actors and public figures, the team aimed to create a silhouette that balanced structure and movement on the red carpet.

For makeup, Aishwarya followed a Royal Sapphire-inspired beauty theme. Her look included defined eyes, eyeliner, long lashes and a reddish-brown lip shade that contrasted with the blue gown. Her hair was styled in soft waves.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan first attended the Cannes Film Festival in 2002 for the premiere of Devdas alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Over the years, she has become one of the most recognised Indian faces at the festival and has represented  L’Oréal Paris on the international stage for more than two decades.

With Luminara, Aishwarya added another Cannes appearance to a journey that has connected Indian cinema and fashion with one of the world’s most recognised film festivals.
