Lara Dutta was born on 16 April 1978 in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Her father was an Air Force officer and her mother came from an Anglo-Indian family. She spent her early years in different cities and later completed her studies in Bengaluru. She graduated from the University of Mumbai.
Her journey started with modelling. She won Miss Intercontinental in 1997. In 2000, she won Miss India and then Miss Universe, she was the second Indian woman to win the title.
Entry into Bollywood and Early Success

After winning the pageant, Lara Dutta moved into Bollywood. She started her acting career with Andaaz in 2003. The film worked at the box office and she received the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut.
