DPIFF 2027 · Short Film Nominations
Your short film is finished. The next decision is where you place it in front of a serious festival jury.
DPIFF 2027 nominations are open to filmmakers worldwide across five short-film award categories. If you have completed a narrative short, documentary, animation, student film or AI film, this is the practical moment to check your eligibility, prepare your screening link and submit through the official DPIFF short film nomination page.
Submit before the regular deadline
The current DPIFF 2027 schedule lists 30 November 2026 as the regular deadline and 31 December 2026 as the late deadline. The nomination page currently lists the regular nomination fee as INR 2,500. Deadlines and fees can change, so confirm the live page immediately before payment.
Why enter a short film in a festival?
A finished film deserves a professional path beyond a private hard drive or a single social-media upload. A film festival entry places your work into a formal consideration process and gives you a record of participation that can support your filmmaker profile, press kit and future festival strategy.
DPIFF’s current short-film programme is designed for different kinds of creators: independent filmmakers, documentary storytellers, animation artists, students and filmmakers using artificial intelligence. The right category helps the jury understand the film you are presenting and the creative tradition it belongs to.
Recognition is never guaranteed by submission, but a clear, eligible and carefully prepared entry gives your film the best possible starting point.

How to submit your short film to DPIFF
- Choose one award category. Select the category that most accurately describes the film you are entering.
- Confirm the completion date and runtime. Check the final export, including opening and closing credits.
- Prepare the poster and synopsis. The current form accepts JPG, JPEG, PNG or PDF poster files up to 5 MB and a synopsis document in DOC, DOCX or PDF up to 10 MB.
- Test your screening link. The form accepts a YouTube, Vimeo or Google Drive link. If it is password-protected, keep the password ready and test the link on another device.
- Complete the filmmaker details. Keep your contact information, city, country, film title and director name consistent across the form and uploaded materials.
- Add category-specific information. Student entries may need film-school or student details. AI entries should disclose the tools used and level of AI involvement.
- Pay the applicable nomination fee and save your confirmation. Submit each film separately and keep a copy of the submitted information for your records.
The strongest submission is easy to review: the category is clear, the film link works, the synopsis is precise and every required detail agrees with the final film.

What can help a film stand out during review?
There is no formula that guarantees selection, and submitting more information than requested does not automatically strengthen an entry. Focus on presentation and accuracy:
Make the synopsis do its job
Give the reviewer the central situation, protagonist or subject and emotional or thematic direction without narrating every scene or revealing every turn.
Send a reliable screener
Watch the exact link you submit from a separate device. Check sound, subtitles, permissions, password access and the final cut before you enter.
Be transparent about process
If the film belongs in the Student or AI category, provide the requested institution, graduation or AI-process information clearly and consistently.
Submit with time to spare
Early preparation gives you time to correct a broken link, replace a wrong poster or resolve a missing detail before the deadline closes.
