Dhanush’s Next Film Padayal Rumored as Violent Rural Actioner

Dhanush’s next project is reportedly titled Padayal, a rural actioner directed by Tamizharasan Pachamuthu, with Wunderbar Films backing the project, according to a report by Valai Pechu.
The pooja is set for September 17, and the film would go on the floors after Om, which is slated to release on October 16, 2026. For context on upcoming releases, see the DPIFF release context page.
The movie is described as a rural actioner with a violent backdrop and could receive an A certificate, placing it in the same broad tonal space as the popular Pushpa films.
There is no official confirmation from the makers about Padayal’s title, cast, or release plan at this time.
Dhanush’s work front includes Kara, an action thriller, and he has announced a collaboration with director Vetrimaaran for a project titled Thamizh Murugan, based on the legend of Lord Murugan.
As of now, Om remains the confirmed release ahead of Padayal’s potential floors, with Om scheduled for October 16, 2026, and a potential box-office clash with Jailer 2 on October 15, 2026. The project’s status is unconfirmed until official confirmation is issued by the makers.
DPIFF will monitor developments and report any official confirmation when it arrives.
