Ranbir Kapoor No Longer Part of Dhoom 4; YRF Revisits Casting PlansĀ
Ranbir Kapoor will reportedly no longer be part of Dhoom 4. The actor was earlier expected to take the franchise forward as its central antagonist, but discussions with the makers have now ended.
According to reports, the project was initially expected to be directed by Ayan Mukerji. However, after War 2, Yash Raj Films head Aditya Chopra decided to explore a different creative direction for the fourth instalment.
Ranbir remained attached to the project during the discussions but has now decided to walk out. Reports suggest that the actor was not fully convinced by the script and chose to step away after multiple rounds of talks.
With Ranbirās exit, Yash Raj Films will now have to recast the role and continue work on the project. The studio has not officially announced the new actor or director for Dhoom 4.
Why Dhoom 4 Matters
The Dhoom franchise began in 2004 with John Abraham playing the stylish antagonist Kabir, alongside Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra. The filmās mix of action, bikes and a larger-than-life villain became a major hit.
Dhoom 2 followed in 2006 with Hrithik Roshan as the master thief Aryan, opposite Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The film became one of the biggest Hindi blockbusters of its time.
In 2013, Dhoom 3 featured Aamir Khan in a dual role as Sahir and Samar, with Katrina Kaif. Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, the film took the franchise to Chicago and became a major worldwide success.
One of the biggest attractions of the franchise has always been its villains. From John Abraham and Hrithik Roshan to Aamir Khan, each instalment has introduced a new star in a central antagonist role.
Whatās Next for Ranbir Kapoor?
Ranbir Kapoor currently has two major projects lined up. He will be seen as Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwariās two-part Ramayana, with the first part scheduled for Diwali 2026.
He will then appear in Sanjay Leela Bhansaliās Love & War, which also stars Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal and is scheduled for a Republic Day release.
For now, the future of Dhoom 4 remains open, with YRF expected to find a new face to carry forward one of Bollywoodās most popular action franchises.
