Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey Gets CBFC ‘A’ Certificate Without Cuts Ahead of India Release

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is set to release in Indian theatres on July 17, and ahead of its release, the film has received an ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

According to reports, the CBFC has cleared the film without any cuts, meaning Indian audiences will watch the same version that is being released internationally. Unless the studio has made any changes on its own, the film’s visuals and dialogues remain unchanged for the Indian release.

The film has a runtime of 2 hours, 52 minutes and 33 seconds and will only be available to audiences aged 18 years and above.

Based on Homer’s ancient Greek epic, The Odyssey follows the journey of Odysseus, played by Matt Damon, as he tries to return home after the Trojan War. During his journey, he faces dangerous creatures, gods, unexpected challenges and long separations from his family.

The film features an ensemble cast including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o and Charlize Theron.

Ahead of the release, Christopher Nolan, along with Matt Damon and Tom Holland, visited Mumbai to attend the film’s Indian premiere. It marked the first time one of Nolan’s films received an official premiere in India as part of its global promotional tour.

During the event, Nolan addressed the audience and said he was happy to launch the film in Mumbai. He also asked viewers whether they liked the film, receiving a loud response from the audience. In a lighter moment, he jokingly asked, “Who is better? Matt or Tom?”, drawing cheers for both actors.

Produced by Universal Pictures, The Odyssey is one of Christopher Nolan’s biggest projects to date and brings one of literature’s oldest stories to the big screen. The film releases in theatres across India on July 17.
