The TATAs: Multi-Season Series Based on Tata Family Announced

After announcing Made In India: A Titan Story, T-Series and Almighty Motion Picture have revealed their next project, a multi-season series based on the Tata family.

Titled The TATAs, the series is adapted from The Tatas: How a Family Built a Business and a Nation, written by Girish Kuber. The book won the Gaja Capital Business Book of the Year Award.

The series will tell the story of the Tata family across four generations and explore how different members contributed to India’s industrial and social development. Instead of focusing only on business, the show will also look at the personal lives, decisions and challenges faced by the family during different periods of Indian history.

The first chapter will focus on Jamsetji Tata, covering the creation of Tata Steel, the opening of Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in 1903 and his contribution towards establishing the Indian Institute of Science.

The second chapter will be on Dorabji Tata, Ratanji Tata and Lady Meherbai Tata, highlighting the growth of Tata Steel, the launch of Tata Hydro-Electric Power and the formation of the Tata Trusts.

The third chapter will centre on J. R. D. Tata and his role in launching Tata Airlines, which later became Air India, along with the growth of Tata Motors and Tata Consultancy Services.

The final chapter will focus on Ratan Tata and the group’s expansion into global markets, along with the growth of brands including Titan Company.

The screenplay is being written by Karan Vyas, who also wrote Made In India: A Titan Story. The project is produced by Bhushan Kumar for T-Series Films and Prabhleen Sandhu for Almighty Motion Picture.

According to the makers, the series is currently in the script development stage. The director, cast and streaming platform are expected to be announced later this year.
