Batwara 1947 Teaser Out: Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, Karan Deol And Abhimanyu Singh Bring Partition-Era Story To The Screen

The teaser of Batwara 1947 has been released, giving audiences a first look at Rajkumar Santoshi’s film based on the Partition era. Starring Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh, the film is scheduled to release on August 14, 2026.

The teaser of Batwara 1947 has been released and offers a glimpse into a story set during the Partition of India. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the film stars Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh in key roles.

The teaser begins by highlighting the struggle Indians faced before Independence. It then shifts towards the events after Partition and how communities and families were affected during that period. The teaser talks about how Religion took over Humanity. 

The film is based on noted playwright Asghar Wajahat’s acclaimed play Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai. The story has been adapted for the big screen and explores life during and after Partition through the experiences of different characters.

Sunny Deol has previously been associated with several films centred around India, including Border, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Maa Tujhhe Salaam and Gadar 2. With Batwara 1947, the actor returns to a story linked to one of the most significant chapters in Indian history.

The film was initially titled Lahore 1947 before reportedly being renamed Batwara 1947.
