Who Is Sandip Patel? Indian-Origin Filmmaker Behind Holy Father Seen At Cannes 2026
Sandip Patel the Indian-origin filmmaker and producer has just been in the spotlight after his Hollywood film Holy Father was showcased at the Cannes Film Festival 2026.
The project built up his production company, SRHP Films, into talks at the international film market and presented his work to a broader audience outside India.
Sandip Patel is originally from India and is currently based in Augusta, Georgia, in the United States. Over the last few years, he has been working on film projects through SRHP Films, a production banner focused on international collaborations and Hollywood productions.
At Cannes 2026, Patel represented SRHP Films for Holy Father, directed by filmmaker Shravan Tiwari. The film stars Hollywood actors Eric Roberts and Mary Lyrette. During the festival, the project was discussed among distributors, filmmakers and production companies attending Cannes.
Apart from Holy Father, Sandip Patel is also involved in another upcoming Hollywood project titled Sundown Town. The film is directed by Shravan Tiwari and produced by Sandip Patel along with Rita Patel. The project was officially launched in the United States on May 23, 2026, and is currently expected to be released in 2027.
People close to the production say SRHP Films has been focusing on stories that can connect with audiences from different countries instead of targeting only one market. That is why many of their projects involve international actors, crews and collaborations.
During Cannes, Sandip Patel also attended several film business meetings and networking sessions connected to global distribution and international partnerships. He is associated with the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA), where discussions around expanding Indian-origin productions into overseas markets have also taken place.
Reports from the festival also mentioned Patel’s interactions with IMPPA Vice President Atul Patel and digital marketing professional Ashvin Borad. Conversations were reportedly around international film distribution, collaborations between countries and how Indian-origin filmmakers are slowly building a space in Hollywood and global cinema.
While the Holy Father brought him to attention at Cannes this year, Sandip Patel’s work through SRHP Films has been gradually growing over the last few years through international productions and partnerships. With Holy Father and Sundown Town currently in development, SRHP Films is now looking to expand further into the global entertainment space with projects involving talent from different countries.
As more Indian-origin filmmakers continue working in Hollywood and international cinema, Cannes 2026 became another platform where newer producers and production banners like SRHP Films got visibility among global film professionals.
