Reliance Industries moves Bombay High Court against Carry On Jatta 4 release
Punjabi film Carry On Jatta 4 has landed in legal trouble before its theatrical release on June 26, 2026. According to reports, Reliance Industries Ltd. has approached the Bombay High Court seeking to stop the release of the film due to a dispute connected to the film’s rights and agreements.
The matter is linked to a tripartite arrangement involving Reliance Industries Ltd., Panorama Studios International Ltd. and Humble Motion Pictures. The case was recently heard before Justice Abhay Ahuja in the Bombay High Court.
During the hearing, Reliance Industries sought urgent relief from the court. Senior Advocate Venkatesh Dhond, appearing for Reliance, reportedly called for a status quo declaration. The issue raised in court was that third-party rights linked to the film property could be created while the disagreement is still pending.
The court allowed Reliance Industries to correct procedural defects in its commercial plaint and also granted liberty to move the Vacation Court for further relief in the matter.
On the other side, Panorama Studios opposed the request made by Reliance. Senior Advocate Ashish Kamat, appearing for Panorama Studios, argued that third-party rights had already been created before Reliance filed its application before the court.
The legal issue now becomes important because Carry On Jatta 4 is one of the biggest Punjabi film releases planned for June. Any interim order from the court could affect the film’s release schedule in theatres.
Carry On Jatta 4 is directed by Smeep Kang and stars Gippy Grewal, Binnu Dhillon, Sargun Mehta, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Jaswinder Bhalla and Karamjit Anmol. The film is the latest part of the Carry On Jatta franchise, which has remained one of Punjabi cinema’s biggest comedy series over the years.
The previous film, Carry On Jatta 3, released in 2023 and performed strongly at the box office in India and overseas. The film reportedly crossed the Rs. 100 crore mark worldwide, becoming one of the highest-grossing Punjabi films.
The court proceedings around Carry On Jatta 4 are expected to go on in the coming days as the release date gets closer.
