Main Vaapas Aaunga was released in theatres on June 12, 2026. In one word, the film is beautiful.
Story:
Set around the Partition era, the film moves between different timelines and tells a story about love, memories, separation, pain and the passage of time. From the very first scene, the film pulls you into its world. You slowly start understanding the characters and their lives, and after that, you simply want to know what happens next.
Without revealing much about the story, the film follows people whose lives are affected by love, distance and circumstances beyond their control, it reminds you of the struggles people went through during Partition and how they continued moving forward despite losing so much.
Performance
Naseeruddin Shah is outstanding throughout. The way he speaks, reacts and carries himself makes the character feel real. Every scene featuring him leaves an impact. He brings a lot of emotion to the role without trying too hard, and many of the film’s most memorable moments belong to him.
Diljit Dosanjh once again proves why he is one of the most dependable actors working today. His performance feels natural and honest. He has the emotions and brings them to the screen in a way that feels believable. There are moments where he says very little, but you still understand what his character is going through.
Vedang Raina does a very good job and leaves a strong impression. He handles different phases of his character’s life with ease and never feels out of place. He shares some important moments in the film and manages to hold his own alongside experienced actors.
Sharvari fits perfectly into the world of the film. From her first appearance, she brings warmth to the story. Every time she appears on the screen you want to know more about her, her visuals and even a glimpse leaves a smile.
Music
A.R. Rahman’s music plays a major role in bringing the story alive. Kya Kamaal Hai, Maskara and Vo Nahin blend naturally with the narrative. The music attaches more deeply to the characters and their emotions.
Cinematography
The cinematography deserves a special mention. Every frame feels carefully put together. Whether it is the landscapes, the period setting, the costumes, the makeup, or the background actors, everything works together to make you feel present inside the story. Your attention rarely moves away from the screen because there is always something happening within the frame.
What stays with you after the film ends is not just the love story but also the message behind it. The film talks about pain, loss, memories and the weight people carry throughout their lives. It reminds us that everyone is fighting battles we know nothing about. It also quietly talks about kindness, compassion and understanding.
The final moments hit hard. During my screening, many people around me were emotional by the time the credits rolled. The film leaves you thinking about relationships, family, time and the people we love.
Verdict
Main Vaapas Aaunga is a film about love, memories, losses and moving forward despite the pain. Strong performances from Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Vedang Raina and Sharvari, combined with A.R. Rahman’s music and Imtiaz Ali’s storytelling, make it a film that stays with you after you leave the theatre.
