Gujarat Tourism Minister Mulubhai Bera Meets DPIFF CEO Abhishek Mishra to Discuss Cultural Tourism Growth

Bhuj, Gujarat – In a meaningful step towards promoting India’s cultural heritage and tourism, Shri Mulubhai Bera, Minister of Tourism, Cultural Activities, Forest & Environment, and Climate Change, Government of Gujarat, met with Abhishek Mishra, CEO of Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival (DPIFF), in Bhuj on Monday, 26th May 2025.

The meeting celebrated six years of collaboration and focused on building stronger ties between Gujarat’s rich cultural identity and DPIFF’s national platform. Both leaders explored ways to highlight Gujarat’s legacy through cinema and tourism.

Minister Bera shared updates on Gujarat’s major tourism achievements. He praised how the state has become a top destination for travelers seeking spiritual, ecological, and cultural experiences. The discussion spotlighted several key locations:

  • Somnath Jyotirlinga – A sacred pilgrimage site and spiritual landmark.
  • Gir National Park – Home to the rare Asiatic lions and a must-visit for wildlife lovers.
  • Rann of Kutch – Known for its white salt desert and colorful festivals.
  • Statue of Unity – The tallest statue in the world, honoring Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
  • Shivrajpur Beach – Recently awarded the prestigious Blue Flag certification for its cleanliness and eco-friendly standards.

Minister Bera, a dedicated leader serving Gujarat since 1995, reaffirmed his goal of making the state a global example in tourism innovation. His efforts have shaped Gujarat into a vibrant hub for culture, adventure, and environmental tourism.

Strengthening the Cinema-Tourism Connection:
Abhishek Mishra emphasized how cultural festivals like DPIFF can promote regional destinations through the lens of cinema. He said, “Films and festivals are powerful tools to showcase India’s unseen beauty. Gujarat’s vibrant culture, historical landmarks, and natural wonders offer incredible stories waiting to be told.”
