DPIFF team along with Indian Army hosted Tree Plantation Drive under the ‘Go Green Initiative’

Held at the military grounds in Maharashtra, the initiative was conducted under the larger framework of the 10,000 Tree Plantation Drive. The activity witnessed participation of several Indian Soldiers (Jawans) and the DPIFF team. It aims to promote eco-consciousness, reduce the city’s carbon footprint and inspire communities to work towards a cleaner, greener future.

Mumbai, Maharashtra – June 2, 2025: DPIFF commenced its prelude with an impactful Tree Plantation Drive in collaboration with the Indian Army. Reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, the initiative showcased the festival’s grand vision not only in cinema but also in environmental stewardship, setting the tone for what promises to be the biggest and most inclusive edition yet.

This is not DPIFF’s first step towards sustainability. Over the past ten years, the festival has consistently led green drives. Building on that success, the latest drive is a bold step forward in expanding its environmental outreach and community engagement.

Col Vivek Singh Bhadouria, Commanding Officer of the 26 AD Regiment, expressed his pride in collaborating with DPIFF, stating, “It is truly an honour for the Indian Army to be part of such a meaningful initiative that serves both our environment and our nation. As protectors of the land, we understand the deep responsibility of preserving it. The Tree Plantation Drive reflects our shared commitment to building a greener, more sustainable future.

He further emphasised the importance of civilian-military partnerships in national progress, “Collaborations like these strengthen the bond between civil society and the armed forces, united by a common purpose. We commend DPIFF for its visionary leadership in promoting social responsibility beyond cinema, and we are proud to contribute to this noble cause. Together, we march towards a cleaner, greener India.

Beyond tree planting, the event also featured informative sessions on sustainable living, eco-friendly habits and the role of individuals in combating climate change especially relevant in today’s rapidly warming world.

Abhishek Mishra, CEO of Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival, shared his thoughts on the initiative, saying, “Environmental responsibility is at the heart of DPIFF’s mission beyond the world of cinema. This Tree Plantation Drive is a powerful step toward building a greener, more resilient future. Collaborating with the Indian Army – an institution that symbolizes dedication, discipline, and service to the nation adds deeper meaning to this cause. Their involvement inspires trust and unity, reminding us that safeguarding our environment is a duty we all share. Together, we aim to lead by example and encourage every citizen to contribute to a sustainable tomorrow.”

Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival has consistently celebrated the diverse cultural landscape of India, spotlighting more than 15 states in previous editions, alongside esteemed entities like Incredible India and the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya.
