As a part of CSR Initiative the Team of Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival hosted Food Distribution Drive on Guru Nanak Jayanti

Mumbai, Maharashtra, Nov 27, 2023 : Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival (DPIFF) continues to make strides in its commitment to social responsibility, exemplified by its recent initiative at a Gurudwara in Borivali (West), Mumbai. Guru Nanak Jayanti served as the backdrop for DPIFF’s altruistic venture – “Langar”, an initiative dedicated to the distribution of nourishing meals and the cultivation of communal harmony. The vibrant atmosphere at the Darbar resonated with the spirit of camaraderie as DPIFF’s team, joined by enthusiastic volunteers that went beyond providing sustenance.

The heart-warming initiative was not merely about distributing meals; it was a concerted effort to create a sense of togetherness and inclusivity. The DPIFF team, inspired by a shared commitment to making a positive impact, seamlessly transitioned into the core activity –  Food Distribution Drive through the Langar was a poignant tribute to Guru Nanak’s philosophy of “Sarbat da Bhala,” emphasizing the welfare of all.

The activity was Powered By Acer, the global tech giant. The collaboration symbolizes a unique collaboration of technology and cinema, combining their strengths to celebrate creativity and excellence in the world of film. In the spirit of inclusivity, the DPIFF team ensured that the event was open to people from all walks of life, regardless of their background or beliefs. This inclusive approach echoed the universal values of love, unity, and selfless service that Guru Nanak advocated throughout his teachings. The significance of this initiative lies in its direct impact on the lives of those facing the harsh reality of food insecurity in the city. By addressing the immediate need for sustenance, DPIFF’s Langar became a lifeline for individuals who, due to various challenges, found it difficult to manage their basic nutritional requirements.

The DPIFF team, alongside Acer representatives, actively engaged with the community during the Langar event. They not only served meals but also took the time to listen to the stories and experiences of those in attendance. This personal interaction added a compassionate touch to the initiative, reinforcing the notion that each individual’s journey is unique and worthy of acknowledgment. Participants, from all walks of life, shared stories and experiences that underscored the universal values of love, compassion, and selflessness. These conversations not only celebrated the festival but also served as a reminder of the common threads that bind us all. The initiative was co-powered by Haier, SELECTED HOMME, JioMart and Royal Stag Packaged Drinking Water.

Abhishek Mishra, CEO of DPIFF, expressed his sentiments about the day, saying, “Witnessing the collective spirit and harmony at Sri Guru Nanak Darbar has been profoundly moving. Our initiative extends beyond the realm of film; it’s about enriching lives and fostering a sense of community. Small gestures, like sharing a meal, have the power to create enduring smiles.
